Despite the title, this Jason Bateman-produced show will not be a series of memes and newspaper headlines depicting the outrageous exploits of semi-mythical Florida men. Probably. Actually, that sounds like a great idea for a Netflix show.

Anyway, this Florida Man is an ex-cop who returns from Pennsylvania to his home state to track down a Philadelphia mobster's runaway girlfriend. However, what was supposed to be a simple in-and-out job quickly escalates. Things start spinning out of control and Mike Valentine (that's the name of the main character) gets sucked into a maze of lies and family secrets, making it impossible for him to do the right thing.

The ex-cop is played by Édgar Ramírez, who has built an impressive CV over the past decade, giving great performances in shows like Carlos and The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, as well as successful feature films such as Zero Dark Thirty, The Bourne Ultimatum, and Hands of Stone.

Florida Man promises to be a great combination of excitement, suspense, and drama. With such a talented actor in the lead, and a great production team behind the scenes, we should expect them to deliver on that promise.

An eight-episode first season has finished filming, but the exact release date has not yet been confirmed.
