Season 2 episode Xmas Story featured the show's least obvious high-profile guest star.
No, we're not talking about Conan O'Brien playing his own head in a jar, but John Goodman's turn as Robot Santa in the character's first appearance.
When Fry wants to celebrate Christmas, he soon learns that things have change in the millenium since he was frozen. A couple of centuries before, The Friendly Robot Company created a Robot Santa, but a programming error had caused his standards for what constitutes a spot on his "nice list" to be far too high, resulting in a festive killing spree every December.
The voice behind the not-so-jolly Robot Santa was none other than the legendary John Goodman, although it was all too easy to miss his subtly disguised tones.
Unfortunately, due to the actor's busy schedule, he was unable to reprise the role in the character's subsequent appearances, forcing Bender's voice actor John DiMaggio to step in and fill Goodman's snowy, bloodsoaked metal boots.
