10 Characters The Walking Dead Killed Off At The Wrong Time
1. Merle
Perhaps the greatest addition to the show not seen in the comics is the Dixon brothers. While Daryl has stuck around for the entire show, Merle was not so lucky. Missing since season one, Merle was one of the most interesting characters in season three and his death was extremely emotional. But killing him off? Not only was it a waste of a fantastic actor, but it also meant missing out on some really interesting stories.
For one, Merle would've been the group member willing to get his hands dirty for the prison. His presence would be sure to cause tension with characters such as Glenn and Maggie, but also he had interesting relationships with Rick and Michonne, not to mention his brother. Post prison, it would've been amazing to see him choose to protect a weak Glenn and help him find Maggie as atonement for his actions with The Governor.
Past this, can you imagine him in any one of the situations Rick and the group face? He'd have the perfect dark joke for the situation with Terminus, the people of Alexandria would be in awe of the man with a blade instead of a hand and Merle meeting Negan would likely of lead to some of the greatest moments in the show's entire run.
Of everyone on this list, Merle was absolutely the one with the most potential.
