10 Crazy Things Louie Did That Could Never Happen On Another TV Show

10. Violinists and Bums

Season 2 | Episode 6 When Louie heads down into the subway, he whiles away the time waiting for his train by watching an expert violinist playing a beautiful classical piece. The player plays with so much exuberance it lights the gritty, grimy underground, and the commuting Louie stands still for a moment in pleasure. That's until a New York bum shows up and unceremoniously starts to take a shower behind him. Coughing and spluttering through the song with the violinist with his back to him, totally oblivious. Why Could It Only Happen On Louie? It's a funny, witty, slightly gross insight into the realities of living in New York that you don't get anywhere else. Some shows might depict the glamour, others might show the poverty, but few manage to combine the two so successfully in one scene and actually make it funny. Every day in New York, two worlds collide, and this scene shows the incongruousness every commuter must experience when the head down into the subway each morning, as high-flying businessmen and politicians rub shoulders with the homeless and buskers.
