10 Doctor Who Characters Who Died For No Reason

5. The Defenceless Ogron (Day Of The Daleks)

Remember how the Doctor supposedly hates using guns? Well, turns out the Time Lord is quite flexible on that standpoint.

For reference, just look at the 1972 serial Day Of The Daleks, where the Third Doctor has no problems with picking up a gun and blasting aliens to death - in some cases, aliens who don't even pose a threat to him.

At the very end of the second episode, the Doctor is attacked by the Ogrons, mindless goons that are lacking in the intelligence department. One of these creatures bursts into the room, but the Doctor stops it by using his Venusian Karate skills to steal its weapon, ending the fight before it can even begin.

Well, scratch that, because the Doctor then decides to ramp up the fight by blasting the defenceless Ogron with its own weapon, vaporising it in an instant. He could've left it alone or used his melee skills to knock it unconscious, but nope! That helpless alien just had to die.

The Doctor then continues his rampage by running outside and shooting a second Ogron, although, to be fair, that one was shooting back.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
