Not content with rejecting him once, Martha Jones actually ended up rejecting the Doctor twice. Bit mean.

While she did travel with him for an entire series (the third year of the revival era), her time in the TARDIS came to an end when she turned down the Doctor's offer of further adventures, partly to stay with her family, and partly because she was tired of the Doctor not noticing her in the way that she wanted.

She did leave the Doctor with a phone however, and she called him up in the following series. The two characters then faced the Sontarans - and even met the Doctor's "daughter" - and though Martha could've continued to fly around and have spacey-wacey adventures, she once again elected to stay on Earth.

She returned once more at the end of the series, managing to prevent the end of reality at the hands (or rather, plungers) of the Daleks. No rejections this time, but when you're a friend of the Doctor's, it seems like danger is never too far away.
