10 Doctor Who Guest Actors Who Also Played The Doctor

The Fast Show and Two Doors Down's Arabella Weir made a brief appearance in the 2011 Christmas Special The Doctor, the Widow, and the Wardrobe. However, years earlier, again in Big Finish's Unbound series, she played the second female Doctor. (The first was Joanna Lumley, keep up)

Exile, written by Nicholas Briggs is another alternative Doctor Who reality, but it was a controversial one. Again, the Doctor has been exiled to Earth, due to some offence committed against the Timelords. However, this female Doctor is an alcoholic who works in a supermarket, rather than a smart and dashing action hero with a military contract. More controversially, the Doctor's female incarnation is a punishment, doled out by the Timelords when the previous incarnation committed suicide. It's nobody's finest hour, and anyone who has an issue with Steven Moffat's writing of female characters should probably give this a wide berth.

Even for 2003, it's an outdated take on ladette culture and the "complicated woman" trope. Arabella Weir is great casting for a potential Doctor, but she's wasted in this. The most notable thing about is that Weir's lodger and friend, David Tennant, appears as a Timelord agent. Whatever happened to him?
