7. Adjoa Andoh
Here's one that will throw a cat among the pigeons. A cat nun, to be precise. Adjoa Andoh left her mark on the Doctor Who mythology during Series 3 - with a brief reprisal of the same role in Series 4 - as Martha Jones' loyal mother Francine but that wasn't the first time the actress had shared the screen with the Tenth Doctor. She was so unrecognisable in her previous appearance, though, that you can be forgiven for not even realising that it was her at all. Cast your mind back to 2006's Series 2 opener, New Earth, during which the newly regenerated Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler journeyed to New New (New New New etc etc) York in the year 5,000,000,023. A visit to the local hospital would prove to be a distinctly clinical affair for our time travelling heroes when they encountered the sinister Sisters of Plenitude, an order of Catkind nuns - though, let's face it, they were far from kind - who were secretly infecting cloned humans with every disease known to man in order to create an efficient plethora of treatments for illnesses that shouldn't have been discovered for at least another thousand years. One of these Catkind - Sister Jatt, to be precise - was played by Adjoa a whole year before she'd return to the Whoniverse as Martha's mum, who was once again another formidable force to be reckoned with. Francine even got to slap David Tennant at some point which is something Sister Jatt would've also reviled in for sure. Who says you can't teach an old cat new tricks? Meeeeow!
