10 Doctor Who Storylines That Fans Pretend Never Happened

7. The Moon Is A Big Egg

Series 8's Kill The Moon has a lot going for it. Sadly, the ending isn't one of those things. On seeing that the Moon was actually an egg for a giant space creature, a very large number of fans spontaneously erupted with, "Oh no it isn't!" and immediately edited the egregious offence to common sense out of their head canons. A vocal group of fans claim that making the Moon into an egg is a poetic act and people shouldn't look for scientific accuracy or internal story logic in a programme that's about an alien who travels through time and space in a police box. The equally vocal group that didn't like the story's resolution retort that those arguments are complete twaddle and that Doctor Who can't just make up stuff that flies so jarringly in the face of all reason. Well, not without a bit more technobabble, anyway. Although it may be tempting fate to say this, it seems likely that the production team at BBC Wales will also forget this profound change to the nature of Earth's Moon. It's worth betting that any future excursions to the Moon won't feature Moon spiders or the Moon hatching. That's probably just as well, too. Once was more than enough.
