10 Exact Moments You Raged Quit A TV Show

1. The 100 - The Show Implements The Bury Your Gay Trope

Lexa The 100

If you haven't heard about the "bury your gay trope", it is basically the concept that within media a queer character is introduced and subsequently killed off as if they were disposable.

The trope has been around for an extremely long time. But the contention surrounding it fully hit breaking point during a consecutive 30 day period in which 4 queer, female characters were killed off on 4 highly popular TV shows.

The most notable and most enraging for fans came when Lexa on The 100 was killed off in a way that was eerily similar to the death of lesbian character Tara from Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Fans were understandably distraught over the death. Lexa was one of the most, if not THE most, beloved character from the sci-fi series.

For the first time in a long time a popular TV show had a queer main character in Clarke, Lexa's love interest, and fans were understandably invested in their relationship. When the two finally put all their differences aside to love each other and be together, the fanbase practically threw parties in celebration. But the relationship barely got off the ground before the writers killed Lexa in an extremely heartless move.

Queer fans that had experienced the "bury your gay trope" too many times at this point, really didn't expect The 100 to be so careless. Maybe it wasn't completely the fault of The 100 that forced these fans to stop watching the show, maybe they were just tired from years of misrepresentation, but quit the series they did.

Lily thought it was about time she wrote Top Ten lists for people other than herself. She also owes her dog a lot of money so she thought it was about time to pay her dues. There is no tv show she likes that she hasn't seen at least twice.
