10 Excellent Cartoon Reboots That Surprised Fans
1. DuckTales (2017)
One of the most well-written and well-animated reboots of a quality original, DuckTales became a massive hit when it came out, mixing stylish animation with a great, overarching mystery and excellent writing.
While the original DuckTales was always an interesting and fun show with a lot of action and intrigue and an impossible-to-forget theme song, its 2017 reboot improved on the equation, the stories becoming even more intriguing and the action more exciting.
It even achieved what the original couldn't: giving Huey, Duey and Louie distinct personalities, visual traits (beyond the colour of their hats and shirts), and voices. It also made Webby a lot more quirky and fun, while Scrooge and Donald and the rest maintained what made their original versions so likeable, with their mystery-packed backstory adding nuance.
The animation's pop art style hearkens back to its comic book roots, and its 2D movement is smooth and appealing to watch. It's best showcased in the theme song—still catchy, but updated for a modern audience.
The quality of storytelling and the love put into his series makes it one of the best cartoon reboots out there, and tops this list for the fantastic balance of all its amazing elements.
