10 Excellent Cartoon Reboots That Surprised Fans

2. My Little Pony (2010)

One of the biggest cultural phenomenons of the last decade, My Little Pony's influence cannot be denied, but neither can the quality of its first seasons, with stellar worldbuilding and writing that elevated what most expected to be a standard children's show about cute horses made to sell toys.

Spearheaded by Lauren Faust, who worked on Powerpuff Girls, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, and most recently, Super Best Friends Forever (featuring DC's female heroes), My Little Pony had the bright, colourful visuals one would expect from a show aimed at young girls, but also a surprising amount of gravity, intelligent writing, and humour, with in-universe stakes that made it more epic than it had any right to be.

It raised the bar for children's entertainment, sparking a phenomenon of older male fans who've kept the series going for many seasons.

With catchy musical numbers, surprisingly nuanced storytelling, memorable characters, its own theatrical feature film, and an important message underlying the entire show, it's easy to see how My Little Pony skyrocketed to popularity. Even until now, the show's quality remains consistently good, even if it isn't quite as amazing now as it was in its first seasons.
