10 Family Guy Episodes That PISSED People Off

1. Turban Cowboy (S11E16)

The history of Family Guy's 20 seasons and counting is littered with offensive, insensitive, and down right hurtful episodes. The show has always enjoyed tackling the controversial, but in season 11 the line was crossed like it never had been before, and never has been since.

In 'Turban Cowboy', Peter befriends Mahmoud, who teaches him about Muslim culture. While Peter embraces his new religion, he discovers that his new friend is part of an Islamic terrorist cell and plans to blow up the Quahog bridge using Peter to help. He actually ended up using his cell phone three times to set off three bombs in Quahog.

There are countless cringeworthy and unfunny jokes about the Muslim people and their culture, and the wildly offensive representation is nothing short of ignorant, making you question why anyone thought this kind of episode would be a good idea in the first place. Family Guy likes to offend, but this took things way too far.

Then there was the unfortunate timing of Peter's cutaway gag in which he drove through the Boston Marathon, killing dozens of people. This came just one month before the Boston Marathon bombings. This timing may not have been intentional, but a joke about massacring a crowd of people is never a great idea, and is just one more reason this episode is not looked back on with any kind of fondness.
