7. Help! It's The Hair Bear Bunch!

An obscure Hanna-Barbera production from 1971, the Hair Bear Bunch is a group of three zoo-living ursine companions who balance the day job of being on display to the paying public with a strong nocturnal partying ethic. They certainly have the sense of style necessary to depict social animals from the era. And their cave is secretly fitted with a variety of creature comforts that include a well-stocked refrigerator and laboratory(!). The show is sort of like a cross between Sergeant Bilko and the A-Team, with the bears fulfilling various character archetypes while generating a storm of semi-surreal, con-artistry laced chaos. The necessity for any quick getaway is facilitated by Square Bear's ability to call upon an imaginary (and thus invisible) motorcycle. This was probably an idea before its time, given that concepts like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles became so successful twenty years later. Considering that it's a Hanna-Barbera property, and rights to the characters presumably defaulted to Cartoon Network when it was established as a studio by Warner Bros. animation, the path should be open to give this concept the refreshment it so richly deserves.
