10 Forgotten Horror TV Shows You MUST Watch
4. Castle Rock
Based on the fictional town that regularly features in Stephen King's novels, the eponymous series premiered on Hulu in mid 2018 and ran up until late 2019. It attempted to capture the scope and scale of King's works in one setting and featured renowned thespians such as Andre Holland, Bill Skarsgard, Lizzy Caplan and Sissy Spacek as well as characters, imagery and settings from the beloved author's numerous stories.
The story follows Henry Deaver (Holland), a criminal attorney who left his eponymous hometown after a tragedy only to return once a mysterious and unknown inmate (Skarsgard) requests his services. With time, both characters are quickly intertwined as characters and plotlines from various King projects feature heavily in the story to chilling effect.
The performances are strong, with Caplan and Spacek in particular receiving universal praise for their portrayals of their increasingly embattled characters. The latter, specifically features in "The Queen," the series' best episode, a haunting and somber exploration of her character Ruth's relationship with Henry, as well as a trove of much-needed answers to some of the show's mysteries.
All in all, Castle Rock served as a solid entry point for new King fans and mostly pleased older fans of the famed writer.
