In Season 6, Episode 8, chasing down Arya before being lured into a darkened room by the once-blind sword-wielding Stark girl. In the next scene her bloody face has been removed and placed in the Hall of Faces of the House of Black and White.

Could She Still Be Alive?

Given that she's a nameless assassin with an ability to change her face, her former face being on show in the House of Black and White isn't really sufficient evidence that The Waif is definitely dead. We really have no way of knowing whether Faye Marsay's face was her original self anyway (and, therefore, its removal being any different from any of her other face changes).

In practical terms, the final confrontation between the Waif, in complete health and fitness and with a lust for murder, and Arya, badly injured, is by no means a foregone conclusion just because Arya blew a candle out. Even with the advantage of having previously learnt to fight blind, there's no guarantee that Arya would have won that.

Which leads us to the alternative theory that she didn't, that Arya never left that darkened room alive, that the girl now going around wearing Arya's face in Westeros (most of the time, anyway) and acting as an expert killer is actually the Waif instead, on her own mission from the Faceless Men to sway the tide of the war. After all, the Faceless Men suddenly seem very blasé about Arya learning all their secrets, refusing to become no-one and then returning to wreak havoc in Westeros, having only just tried to have her killed for less.

It's unlikely, but it certainly would be a shocking last act twist.
