10 Game Of Thrones Scene Stealers
2. Brother Ray (Ian McShane)
Ian McShane is a legendary actor. In the run-up to his appearance on Game of Thrones, McShane casually spoiled his character's death, ticking off fans. His reply that they should all relax because "it's only !*$% and dragons" is an example of why McShane is such a legend.
Unlike the other characters on this list, Brother Ray is played by a famous face and you would be forgiven for thinking Ray would stick around past “The Broken Man”. But come now, this is Game of Thrones and the moment that those marauders showed up it should have been obvious that Ray’s patch of paradise was doomed. So many of the show’s religious men are either hypocrites (any High Septon) or fanatics (the High Sparrow).
But Ray is a man of the people. Only someone like this could help nurse The Hound back to health and convince him to help build a sept. There’s a reason Clegane stuck around after Ray healed his wounds and it’s because he finally met someone who spoke of morality in terms Clegane could understand. Ray is a sacrificial lamb, driving Clegane on a quest for revenge, and it’s a shame the show never mentions him again.
