10 Game Of Thrones Facts That Will Blow Your Mind

8. The Kid Playing Jojen Reed Is Not A Kid At All, He's 23 Years Old

In the books, Jojen Reed - that weird kid who likes to hunt frogs and knows Bran better than Bran knows himself - is thirteen years old. Now, it's totally fine for creators to change things while adapting a piece of work from one medium to another. For example, Robb Stark is 16 years old in the books and the actor who portrayed him, Richard Madden, is 27. But Madden looks 27 and the age suited the television version of Robb. In Jojen Reed's case, the character needed to stay a boy in order to relate to Bran, so naturally they had to cast a young gifted actor, right? Not exactly. Thomas Brodie-Sangster is 23 years old, and he'll be 24 before the fourth season finale. 23 years is far from old, but this is mind-blowing stuff because the actor doesn't look a day over 12. Since Jojen Reed is described as a thirteen year old who is very mature and appears to be much older than his age, the casting of Brodie-Sangster is actually spot on. Next time you see and hear Jojen bossing Bran around, you'd do well to remember that Brodie-Sangster is 9 years older than Isaac Hempstead Wright who plays Bran.
