10 Great TV Shows Starring The Cast Of Friends

8. The People V. O.J. Simpson

The Comeback Lisa Kudrow
FX

This star-studded dramatisation of O.J. Simpson’s trial and eventual acquittal for double murder made headlines primarily for its acting. On one hand we had a camp John Travolta as Robert Shapiro and a floundering Cuba Gooding in the title role. On the other, Sarah Paulson and Sterling K Brown were exceptional as the prosecutors Marcia Clark and Chris Darden.

Somewhere in the middle was David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian. Schwimmer is admirably restrained, letting his Pepe Le Pew hairstyle do the heavy lifting for much of the series before getting the opportunity to emote as he experiences a crisis of conscience when Simpson wins the day.

While not even the best O.J. Simpson-focussed series of 2016 (that would be Made In America, the astonishing, Oscar winning doc), The People v. is a glossy and highly enjoyable drama that covers a lot of the important info for those looking to learn about the sensational case. Schwimmer’s Kardashian sits somewhere in his sad sack sweet spot, but he’s given opportunities to investigate the moral uncertainty of the man.
