10 Hollywood Stars Who Got Their Big Break On Embarrassing TV Shows

9 & 8. Jesse Eisenberg/Anne Hathaway - Get Real

Tumblr Lh3n5eyd9w1qdqsnuo1 400 This one is a two-fer, so bear with me. Back in 1999, Fox tried their luck with a comedy-drama about a typical family navigating their way through life with three kids. The storylines lacked any real originality, the dialogue was cringe-worthy, and watching even five minutes of this show you can tell that it has absolutely no future. Put simply, it contributed nothing worthwhile. The only reason it's anything more than a blip in the long history of television is because of the careers it inspired. Despite their humble TV beginnings, two of the three children on this show went on to get some Oscar glory (one nominee, and one winner). Anne Hathaway and Jesse Eisenberg played the two younger kids in the family. (Their older brother was played by Eric Christian Olsen, who has also had a respectable acting career.) Get Real was Anne Hathaway's major acting debut, having only performed in regional theater up to that point. A year after the show ended, she was cast in The Princess Diaries, which launched her career into the stratosphere. As for Jesse Eisenberg, he was only fifteen years old when he appeared in this show, and it was his first acting job €“ although his younger sister Hallie Kate had attracted a lot of attention a year or two earlier, with her performance in Paulie and several creepy Pepsi commercials. Both Eisenberg and Hathaway have gone on to tremendous film careers far beyond what could have been expected based on Get Real, which was cancelled before the first season had ended.
