6. Barney Selling A Woman
In episode 14 of season 3 Barney tries to track down a woman sabotaging his attempts to lure other people’s daughters into his bed. The gang naturally helps.
He mistakes a friend of Robin’s for the saboteur and confesses all his sins, admitting that at one point he’s pretty sure he sold a woman. He didn't speak the language but a guy shook his hand, handed him the keys to a Mercedes, and he left the girl there.
This horrific admission is promptly accompanied by a laugh track. It’s also never revisited again because in the world of How I Met Your Mother, people just laugh at human trafficking and then forget all about it.
