All Might’s final act as a hero was one of the most unique and jaw-dropping anime moments of the last decade. From the very premise, we had been told that the world’s greatest hero was nearing the end of his run. At the same time, the story also made sure to drive him just how important he was to society and in fact the whole world.

When time came for the deciding showdown with the returning All for One, everything had been set up to perfection. The devious villain had set up the perfect trap for the heroes. With Endeavor and the rest tied down with the Nomus, All Might was left to fend for himself. Still, despite his physical handicap, All Might pulls through with sheer willpower and manages to free the abducted Bakugo. All that was left then, was to face his greatest foe one on one.

And boy oh boy did they deliver one epic climax. An earth-shaking, slugfest ensued, which even saw All Might’s weakened state being revealed to the whole world. In the end however, just like always, he found a way to pull through, defeating All for One with the literal final punch of his hero career. And then, he delivered those legendary words, officially passing the torch down to Deku.
