10 Iconic Moments in Doctor Who

6. The Auton Attack (€œSpearhead from Space€, 1970)

As a child, you €œknew€ that shop window dummies came to life at night. They had to, right? I mean, sometimes when you walked by on one day, they looked one way, and the next day they€™d look totally different. How could that happen unless they were able to move about? That€™s part of what makes this scene so very good. The Autons are disguised as shop window dummies and come to life. They break out of the stores and go on a rampage, killing pretty much everyone they come across. It€™s a wonderfully creepy, very unpleasant scene that does a better than usual job of showing what the stakes are should the Doctor fail.
