10 Iconic TV Characters Who Only Appeared In One Episode

1. Hank Scorpio - The Simpsons

Scary Terry Rick and Morty
Fox

The Simpsons could have quite easily filled this list on their own. Frank Grimes, John the Homosexual, Sherri Bobbins, Larry Burns, Belle... and that’s just in Season Eight. Hank Scorpio was always going to be top though.

The brilliant villain was fantastically played by Albert Brooks, the man also responsible for Simpsons characters Tab Spangler, Cowboy Bob and Simpsons Movie antagonist Russ Cargill, Head Of The EPA. As ever, Brooks ad-libbed most of his lines, and delivered one of the all time great TV performances.

The episode in question, You Only Move Twice, sees the Simpson family leave Springfield as Homer takes a job in Cypress Creek. There, he befriends the owner of Globex - Hank Scorpio himself - and the pair strike a fantastic dynamic.

There aren’t many characters in the history of The Simpsons who’ve been able to outshine Homer, but Scorpio is certainly one of them. They bounce off each other so perfectly, it feels like Scorpio has been part of the show for years.

Pretty much every line he delivers has become an iconic part of Simpsons history, and he’s still the gold standard for animated antagonists.
