10 Incredible TV Scenes Shot In A Single Take
8. The Oner - The Studio (S1E1)
In Apple TV+'s satirical comedy, new studio head Matt Remick (Seth Rogen) desperately tries to make artsy projects, going against the wishes of his fellow Hollywood bigwigs. From the pilot episode, it's obvious The Studio embraces long takes, with West Wing-styled walk-and-talks utilised throughout. But the second episode, fittingly called The Oner, cranks it up a notch by filming everything in one go.
What makes this oner episode more entertaining is the fact that it revolves around Matt's production team shooting a oner scene of a sunset. Throughout the troubled shoot, Matt finds that all his attempts to perfect the shot end up actually sabotaging it, leading to immeasurable frustration for all parties involved.
How this entire episode plays out feels like a meta-commentary, since the crew found themselves running into similar problems. The whole thing had to be shot in four chunks, since the production could only film at the exact moment when the sunset occurred.
Though there are many TV shows that shoot a full episode in one take, The Studio might have the only oner that's centred around one.
