10 Incredibly Dark British TV Comedy Series You NEED To Watch
2. Jam
Known for the likes of Brass Eye and Four Lions, Chris Morris has carved out a niche for himself within the comedy world as one of its most intelligent and downright savage satirists. Frequently dipping his toes in the darker side of comedy, controversy has followed him throughout his storied career, but of all of his creations, none can truly hold a candle to the perverse darkness of Jam.
Simultaneously horrifying and hilarious, Jam is a much more experimental take on the sketch-show format, cramming in as much disturbing content as it can, and utilising bizarre production techniques - such as having the actors lip-sync their audio from the show's original radio incarnation Blue Jam.
Each vignette is accompanied by ambient music and an ever-growing sense of unease, one that only gets worse the more you watch it. With sketches that revolve around incest, plumbers attempting to mend dead babies, and a whole host of other taboo subjects, this is definitely not a show for the faint-hearted.
There's truly never been anything else quite like Jam on British television, and it's safe to say that there never will be. Jam is an entity unto itself and must truly be seen to be believed.
