4. Beating Up Satan With Summer
Only in Rick & Morty could a grandfather teaming up with his granddaughter to beat up the devil be considered a kind act.
When Summer gets a job at a Needful Things style store, Rick opens a store opposite where he’ll rid whatever curses are on the items Mr Needful (whom Rick suspects is Satan) and Summer gave away, ruining their plans and making a profit to boot.
This causes strain on Mr Needful, with him attempting suicide before Summer intervenes. Of course, in true Rick style, once he’s gotten one over on them he immediately gets bored and closes the business down.
Mr Needful then takes his business online, firing Summer, who feels heartbroken and betrayed. Seeing his granddaughter hurt, Rick immediately springs to her defence. Together, they hatch a plan to get back at her former boss.
This leads to a surreal montage of Summer and Rick training together until they become hulked out, muscle bound monsters. It’s weird, certainly, but it’s still a great bit of grandfather/granddaughter bonding. Once they’re in good enough shape, they track down Mr Needful and beat the everliving snot out of him, as a family.
