2. Dallas Bobby In The Shower

Dallas is one of the most popular primetime dramas of all time and had a huge influence on television as we know it today, including helping to codify the cliffhanger and spawning the now legendary meme Who shot JR. So surely its ludicrous moment was like the ones from Mad Men and Breaking Bad and was bizarre but good, right? Well if you thought that, Im afraid youre way off. After seven seasons, leading actor Patrick Duffy decided it was time for him to call it quits and his character Bobby Ewing was killed off in a car accident at the end of Season Eight. Duffys absence as well as an overhaul of the creative team caused Dallas to slip in the ratings and swift action was needed to stop it from falling further. And thats where the ludicrous moment comes in. Season Nines finale ended with Bobbys wife Pam waking up and walking into the bathroom to find Bobby in the shower, very much alive. Because part of the solution to the falling ratings was to bring back Patrick Duffy and write off the entirety of Season Nine, which consisted of thirty-one episodes and had a runtime of just under fourteen hours, as Pams dream. This moment is the love child of backtracking and poor writing, and to this day it remains an example of just how badly you can manage to screw up a screw-up. Completely ridiculous in the worst possible way.
