Simon Cowell is the undisputed leader of the talent show world and is unequivocally the most memorable judge television has ever seen. Simon has been a judge on Pop Idol, American Idol, World Idol, Britain's Got Talent, X Factor UK and X Factor USA. That is a pretty impressive CV, especially when he has producer credits on three of those shows as well. Simon was the first villain on modern day talent shows. His straight talking and no nonsense approach as well as an inability to let contestants down easy, was a hit with viewers. Of course he is equally despised by those who feel he has saturated the music industry with manufactured pop. But the amount of number 1's and platinum records he has amassed over the years speak for themselves. In the beginning years of his judging career he was simply a face to deliver harsh comments. But in recent years he has become a mellowed character that is more respected, than hated. Contestants used to tear him apart in the early days, dismissing him as being rude and unreasonable. He has had water thrown him, had grandmothers telling him off and of course been egged on live television as well. Nowadays, his opinion is the only one that truly matters to contestants. They recognise his influence in the pop industry and his keen eye for creating hits. He is the father of talent shows and isn't afraid of giving truthful advice, even if it is directed to an act he is personally mentoring. With X Factor and Got Talent just renewed for another three years on ITV, we won't be seeing the last of Simon Cowell just yet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCb0jQOCobw
