10 Mind-Blowing Facts You Didn't Know About The Office

2. Carell's "Big Ball" Strike

Back in 2007, Hollywood was brought to a stand still by the first writers strike since 1988, carried out by the Writer's Guild of America. The strike was largely in part due to writers, producers, and showrunners not being compensated (or at least not fairly compensated) for DVD sales or shows that were sold to streaming services.

A number of big players from across show business took a stand for themselves and their fellow workers over these conditions, with work halting on shows like The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men as they literally "ran out of scripts".

Steve Carell (along with other cast and crew members) was one of the most featured names on people's lips as the show was growing in popularity at the time. It's also reported that on the first day the strike took place, Carell called in sick saying his "enlarged balls" prevented him from coming into work.

That's what she said.

While this trivia has Carell's signature humour all over it, the matter pertains much wider than just the world of The Office, and was an important day for the off-screen team members who contribute to our favourite shows from the shadows.
