The eighties Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show - being the first mainstream appearance of these characters - was a mixed bag. On one hand when it was funny, it was genuinely hilarious, on the other hand it is the definition of an in-name-only adaptation. But it did have one thing going for it, and that would be the theme song.

If you grew up with this catchy tune, you've probably wondered who originally composed it. Well hitch up your britches, because this road is paved with nuts. It was Chuck Lorre. Yes, that Chuck Lorre.

No doubt you have questions, but the answer is shockingly simple. before he was a television mega-producing mogul, he was a struggling New York songwriter trying to find his big break. He never found it, only making two songs of note, one of them being the theme song to the original Turtles cartoon.

To his credit, to make sure he had something good to pitch to CBS, he boned up on as much of the Mirage comics as he could. And needless to say, it paid off for him in spades.
