10 Modern British Comedies You Must Binge Watch

1. Gavin And Stacey

Peep Show
BBC

This Welsh/English collaboration is much loved and painfully short lived. The power of the comedic chemistry created by Ruth Jones and James Corden has proven a lasting one; the show was revived for a Christmas special in 2019 despite not being on air for almost 10 years.

Following the lives of English Gavin and Welsh Stacey as their love blossoms after phone calls and an eventual meet up in London. No matter which episode you watch it is bound to be full of hilarious lines, almost every one as iconic as the next. Mention a takeaway to a fan and watch their bhuna based breakdown, it's impossible to hear the name Neil without immediately following it with "the baby".

Every single episode is well written and worth watching, revisiting it feels like a journey home. The charm of this show is infectious, even if you just watch one episode you'll find yourself coming back for more. Oh but don't forget the salad.
