9. Morgan's Tragic Tale
The showrunners really teased out Morgan becoming a series regular. He appeared in the first episode and then another in season three, before disappearing until season five. It was worth the long wait, since he added some interesting new dynamics to the team; even if his no killing rule got old fast.
When we first met him and his son they took in Rick and explained what happened to the world while he was in a coma. He also reveals his wife had turned, and he’s later seen unable to put her out of her misery. When he reappears in season three he’s obviously been through a rough time and has turned crazed and homicidal.
It’s no wonder since he reveals to Rick his son was killed by his zombie wife, because they were both unable to shoot her. Lennie James’ performance sells the hell out of this moment, and dear god do you feel sorry for the guy.
