10 Most Hated Battlestar Galactica Episodes

2. Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down - Season 1, Episode 9

Battlestar Galactica The Passage
Universal

Roslin becomes suspicious that Adama may be a Cylon, while Colonel Tigh's estranged wife Ellen miraculously turns up to tigh down the entire episode.

Ellen is instantly unlikable, and her sudden appearance is jarring to the audience and the characters who suspect she may be a Cylon. While done on purpose, Ellen’s obnoxiousness is just too much to endure. She gets into drunken shenanigans during dinner with Adama, Roslin, and Lee, and even puts her legs around Tigh’s head while hanging from a scaffolding. The episode’s biggest fault, though, occurs during the climactic moment in Baltar’s lab. Baltar has been tasked to run a Cylon test on Adama per Roslin's request, and on Ellen per Adama's request. Everyone then crashes into the lab and starts arguing in a moment played as a sitcom style comedy.

This is a huge error as there’s nothing funny about them suspecting each other of being toasters. Such a storyline should be painful, or tragic, or terrifying, but definitely not funny. Its a strange choice that saps the episode of any dramatic heft it could have had.
