10 Most Hated Star Trek Voyager Episodes
5. Favorite Son Season 3, Episode 20
After Harry begins experiencing unexpected instincts, he learns that he may actually be the child of a nearby race known as the Taresians. It’s an implausible premise that turns the crew into imbeciles just so the plot can function as no one is even suspicious of a species whose plan is to carry an embryo 70,000 light years in the off chance it would become a Starfleet member and miraculously get stranded in the Delta quadrant.
They go to the Taresian homeworld to investigate the claim about Harry even leaving him to investigate on his own. We are then subjected to a barrage of tedious moments with the alien females massaging, caressing, and kissing Harry with the execution as funny as you can imagine. It is painfully obvious in these moments that something is amiss, so it turns into a boring wait until it's finally revealed, through a mountain of technobabble, that Harry is actually the victim of a Taresian virus designed to rewrite his DNA.
Not just that, In a last minute effort to add stakes, they are going to slaughter him and use his raw cells for the females to ensure conception leading to the standard Voyager rescue operation. It's one of those plots that could have been over immediately if the crew had any common sense, like questioning the Taresian plan or deciding not to leave Harry alone on an alien planet. Suffering from idiotic character decisions, an implausible premise, and witless humor, this is light years from a favorite.
