1. Antony Dimmond

You might want to make sure you're sitting down for this one. Antony Dimmond was a wonderful, charming man, that constantly bumped into Hannibal during his time hiding in Venice. The two became good friends as they shared a lot in common, including their dislike of other anthropologists that worked with Hannibal.

Sadly, Antony accidentally found out that Hannibal was pretending to be someone else, which meant that Antony was close to finding out the truth about Hannibal. So one day Hannibal invited Antony to have dinner with Gillian Anderson's Bedilia Du Maurier.

While the dinner was delightful and pretty funny, it came to an abrupt end when Hannibal found a nearby bust and beat Antony to death with it. Antony survived the first blow, crawling for several long seconds to try and escape before Hannibal walked up and finished him off.

Hannibal had once again killed someone who only wanted to be his friend. But then to top it all off, Hannibal turned Antony's body into one of the most macabre pieces of art ever made.

Hannibal skinned Antony, twisting his body into the shape of the human heart, essentially creating a human origami figure by removing Antony's head and other appendages that were not needed for the art piece.

He then placed this horrifying installation inside a church for Will Graham to find and understand that it somehow represented Hannibal's broken heart for almost killing his one true best friend.
