3. I Am Not Okay With This
Netflix did a really decent job with advertising this series, as it was on a lot of viewers collective minds. It spun the tale of Sydney Novak as she struggled through high-school, complicated family life and her sudden emergence of superpowers.
While symbolic coming of age stories about the struggles of puberty and young adult life are abundant, this series presented it compellingly, and was led by two brilliant performances from Sophia Lillis and Wyatt Oleff of IT: Chapter One fame.
All things pointed to success with this show, as the first season was well-received by fans and critics, and seemed poised to improve in its second instalment. Unfortunately, through no fault of its own, the series was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Alongside another Netflix coming of age story - The Society - the company have chosen not to move forward with the show thanks to concerns about when shooting will be able to take place, with a desire to not miss production deadlines.
This is a massive disappointment, as the renewal had - much like Stumptown - already been announced, only to be redacted.
