The coven imbued Reign's essence into a genetically engineered Kryptonian and sent the infant to Earth, where she was raised as Samantha Arias. Sam's kind and warm demeanor was a far cry from Reign's more destructive persona and this contrast led to Reign taking over her human side and dispensing her twisted form of justice on National City's criminals.

This attracted Supergirl's attention, and the two came to blows multiple times, with Kara being outmatched by Reign's mystically enhanced strength and savagery. Ultimately, Kara and her allies were able to banish Reign and save Sam and the Earth from the threat of the Worldkillers.
