10 Must-See Previous Roles From New Twin Peaks Residents

5. Michael Cera – Michael Cera, This Is The End

Michael Cera This Is The End
Columbia Pictures

We have selected this role purely to soothe your fears and confirm that Cera is capable of playing against his effective (but often cloying) nervous twee guy type. While his turn in This Is the End isn’t Earth-shatteringly original - many actors have played ‘themselves’ as obnoxious and whiny - it is nonetheless hilarious, and reassuringly self-aware.

As excellent as he was in Arrested Development, in which his combination of heart and humour was quietly crucial to its winning formula, we’re still holding out hope that Lynch sees something as yet undiscovered within him.

We have faith, too. If Lynch could manage to drag a terrifying performance out of the otherwise wooden Eric DaRe's Leo Johnson, we have no doubt that he can get the best out of an actor who, though talented, has yet to truly establish that he can operate outside of his comfort zone.
