10 New TV Shows Of Fall 2017 Guaranteed To Succeed

Glee's been off the air for a few years, so it's probably about time for another high school theater drama -- and let's be real, theater nerds are several orders of magnitude less irritating than musical theater nerds. It is known.

Rise stars Ted from How I Met York Mother (aka Josh Radnor, who seems like the kind of person who would probably vibe pretty well with pretentious theater kids) as a drama teacher at a working class high school. But while the lead role is certainly in capable hands, the real talent that will make this show a hit is behind the camera.

The two creators of Rise and Jason Katins, who previously served as head writer for both Friday Night Lights and Parenthood, and Jeffrey Sellers, the Broadway producer the world can thank for Rent, Avenue Q, and Hamilton (you may have heard of them). So you've got someone who really knows how to make a network drama, and someone who really knows how to make good theater. Too perfect to fail.

Also Barb from Stranger Things has a recurring role on Rise. #JusticeforBarb
