7. Modern Family

When Modern Family launched in 2009, it was met with rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. Smart, funny, and with its finger firmly on the pulse of modern America, the show batted out stellar season after stellar season... until it didn't. In fact, the past few have been very inconsistent, with season six having only experienced a brief resurgence in quality before the current seventh hit screens late last year.

The problem with Modern Family is that it's really quite repetitive. The Dunphys and the Pritchetts may be funny, but, as is often the case with sitcoms, tropes get worn out, themes get repeated, and the plots get more outlandish.

It's a shame, because Modern Family still shows signs of promise even in its poorest moments. With two more seasons on the way, and with more probably arriving afterwards, we can only hope that those genuine moments of quality lead to bigger and better things - especially with the amount of talent involved behind the scenes.
