10 Reality TV Shows That Question Your Supernatural Beliefs
3. Extreme Paranormal
There’s an old saying about poking a nest full of hornets... don’t do it! So what happens when a television executive thinks it a good idea to take that advice, replace “nest full of hornets” with “spirits”, then put it on TV and watch what happens? You get one of the silliest shows to ever air on basic cable.
“Extreme Paranormal” follows a few yahoos who not only investigate paranormal hot spots, but find that the best thing to do when in those places, is to troll the ever loving crap out of the phantasms that dwell within in hopes to get some sort of reaction.
Yeah, because that sounds like a wonderful idea, doesn’t it?
It’s no wonder that this show (once again from our friends at the A&E Network, seemingly the place where ghosts go to die a second death) was cancelled after only two episodes in 2009. Even with the inclusion of the “Do Not Try This At Home” disclaimer placed in the beginning credits, you could see why “Extreme Paranormal” wasn’t long for this world. I’m sure the Execs just loved watching the hosts of their program involving themselves in self mutilation, performing occult rituals, and just outright taunting demons.
“Extreme Paranormal” will ultimately go down as one big missed opportunity. If two episodes brought this much goofiness and hilariously bad amusement to the screen, one has to wonder how much enjoyment would have come out of a full season.
