10 Reasons The DC Animated Universe MUST Return

4. There Are Countless New Storylines That Could Be Adapted

As stated earlier, DC's output didn't end when the DCAU did. In fact, it could easily be argued that in the intervening years DC made some of the most meaningful changes in its history, playing with timelines and universes and creating epic, classic storylines.

Admittedly, many of these storylines have been portrayed in other DC animated works since then; however, the DCAU crew always seemed to be able to put a unique spin on things - look at their portrayal of the death of Superman in the JL episode 'Hereafter', for example.

Could time travel and parallel dimensions allow our heroes to see the Soviet Superman of Red Son or the altered timeline of Watchmen? How would the DCAU look different after adapting Final Crisis or Flashpoint? Would Warner Bros. let DC push some boundaries and portray deceased heroes and villains as Black Lanterns?

What side would the Justice League members pick when the battle for Batman's cowl ensued after his 'death'? How would Bruce, Dick, Barbara, Tim, and Damian react when Jason Todd returned under his red hood?

Who would step into the animated boots of Wonder Woman, Superman, and Batman when they disappeared during the New 52 era?

The prospects are enough to make a fan's mouth water.
