10 Reasons Why The Boys Was Better As A TV Series
1. The Becca Twist Allows For Some Awesome New Storylines
The final moments of the show represent the single biggest change from source material to screen; instead of Butcher's ex-wife Becca being viciously raped and murdered by a Supe, she is instead shown to be alive, with the encounter possibly being consensual and Becca now raising Homelander's son, who is also seen to be a Supe, something thought to be biologically impossible before.
This change is one of the few that has absolutely no precedent in the comics, and one of the most interesting.
The entire situation calls Butcher’s motivations into question. How can you be on a one-man revenge rampage if there’s nothing to avenge? Seems quite gratuitous. Even if he does get out to continue the mission, how is he going to escape his current predicament?
Homelander seems to be on board with his new status as a Dad, but even the fact that he is raises questions. Could the presence of a child Supe mean there is a possibility for a whole new group of children born with powers, similar to the mutants of the X-men? Will Kid Homelander follow in his father’s footsteps or be disgusted by his behaviour?
Hopefully these questions will be addressed as the show continues into unknown territory in season 2.
