10 Reasons Why The Boys Was Better As A TV Series
2. The Females' Backstory Is Far More Interesting
When you are fighting Supes, sometimes it's handy to have a mute psychopath with the power to "explosively eviscerate" people.
This is where The Female (of the Species) comes into play. In the comics, she was shown to be one of the more “playful” members, sharing a special relationship with Terror and Frenchie, as well as being sweet on Hughie, even if her favourite activity was tearing off faces and working as a part-time enforcer for the mob.
The Female (of the series) is far more entwined with the main plot of the series. Removing the air of mystery regarding her origin, it is revealed that she was a child named Kimiko who was kidnapped, along with her brother, as part of Vought's supervillain production scheme. She is eventually transferred to the US, where she escapes (with the help of Frenchie) and sets off to save her brother, before falling in with The Boys (mostly with Frenchie) to help stop the entire conspiracy.
This involvement with the main story line, as well as the addition of backstory, makes the Female far more important in the grand scheme of things, even if it does kind of sacrifice the "mysterious wild card" element of her character.
