10 Reasons Why The Boys Was Better As A TV Series

9. Introducing Each Member Of The Team Separately Lets You Get To Know Them

When meeting new people, it's always best to talk to them one on one. Otherwise, you end up with a barrage of random names and faces that you'll never be able to remember and you'll be left on your own at the party, due to you not being able to talk to anyone without embarrassing yourself.

Case in point, in the comics, we are introduced to the team in full force all at once, with Hughie being the newest member. However, in the show, Hughie is the first member Butcher recruits to this new, post-Mallory version of the group. Each member is brought on in their own episode, with the full team not being assembled until episode 4.

This more slow paced approach allows us to get to know each team member individually, allowing us to learn their personalities (such as Hughie's cowardice in the early episodes), their backstory (such as Frenchie's first kill and the Female's origin) and relationships (M.M's family).

The deeper investment in the characters allows them to develop more over the course of the series, as we see the beginning of Hughie's mistrust of Butcher's philosophy and how The Boys' job affects M.M's family life (Spoiler: killing Supes for a living does not equal marital bliss).
