10 Reasons You Must Watch Avatar: The Last Airbender

8. The Animation Is Beautiful

Avatar is perfectly marrys Eastern and Western influences. The show's creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko created the show at Nickelodeon Animation Studios in Burbank, California, but worked closely with cultural advisors and South Korean animating studios such as JM Animation, DR Movie, and MOI Animation.

There are clear East Asian artistic influences in the art direction and settings of the show, while Asian cinema served as an influence for the way movement occurs within scenes.

Sweeping landscapes, strong colours and a confident style are signature within the show, enhanced incredibly by the way music lifts and supports the story and echoes the show's artistic influences.

Season three in particular comes into its own in a visual sense, but every season is consistently gorgeous. Stand-out episodes include The Firebending Masters, The Puppetmaster, and the finale that breaks the barriers with how the elements are used in conjunction with the character's movements.

We won't give you any spoilers here, but get ready to be awed at the beauty of the fast-paced ending!
