10 Reasons You Should Watch Castlevania Season 4
2. The Relationships
The way the series portrays relationships has always been extremely grounded and human. Some relationships are romantic, both in healthy and unhealthy ways, while others show an emotional and symbolic depth that aren't necessarily explained in dialogue, but seen through the show's vibrant visual language. The show's willingness to dive into mature and genuinely sweet relationships or dissect unhealthy ones sets it apart from media that treats relationships as fodder for drama.
The relationship between Lenore and Hector is messy yet complex, reflecting Lenore's relationship with her own sisters, as well as her own existence. The relationship between Hector and Isaac takes an unexpected yet satisfying turn, showing how much Isaac has changed and Hector is trying to.
Romantic relationships like the ones between Striga and Morana, and Trevor and Sypha, show a trust and willingness to communicate and openly love each other, in ways not always portrayed well in "dark" media.
One of the most prominent relationships in this series, however, is that of the main trio, with Sypha, Trevor and Alucard showing themselves to be an implacable unit even after such a long separation. They're the beating heart of the series, and fortunately, the writing never forgets that.
