Inspired by David Cronenberg's 1988 film (which was in turn based on the 1977 book by Bari Wood and Jack Geasland), this Rachel Weisz-starring vehicle lives up to the blood and gore soaked nature of Cronenberg's iconic works while bringing unexpected but welcome visual flair and a game dual performance from its lead actress.

The 2023 series follows Beverly and Elliot Mantle (Weisz), twin gynecologists who commit medical-related crimes in a twisted attempt to establish their own birthing centre. As they sabotage their own workplace to create their own, the twins forge relationships with their patients and experience physical challenges of their own in decidedly repulsive yet unique ways fitting for a body horror story.

As mentioned before, Weisz in outstanding as Beverly and Elliot, infusing each twin with unique quirks that make them distinct but also feel very much related to each other. The script is also well-constructed, and it features a commanding visual style due to the penning talents of Alice Birch (Succession) and directorial efforts of Sean Durkin (The Iron Claw), among others.
