While the Bent-Neck Lady is fuelled by misery and fear, trapped in her role by no means of her own, The Lady Of The Lake is the cause of her own fury. And poor Victoria Pedretti is a victim to them both.
The Lady Of The Lake may originally appear as a homemade toy in a child's dollhouse, but this in no way diminishes the utter terror the faceless ghost induces in you. For the real Lady Of The Lake is horrifying. Like The Bent-Neck Lady, The Lady Of The Lake appears mostly like a normal woman with long black hair, but this ghostly apparition has no face, just sunken holes where her features previously resided. She is also completely soaking wet, but that was evident enough from her name.
But it's not just her unsettling appearance that frightened audiences, it was her rage. We first see her roaming the manor in the background of another scene, and that is already scary enough. But when she appears suddenly in the next episode, choking Peter to death for no apparent reason, scary becomes petrifying.
Her flashback episode did nothing to quell the fear that she installed, and by the final episode audiences were paralysed with fear as they watched the devastation caused by the spirit.
